After correcting the sextant altitude and applying Polaris corrections from the Nautical Almanac, the latitude is 28 05.9' N. Index error is corrected by adding to the sextant altitude; dip is subtracted. The observed altitude is then corrected using the Nautical Almanac's Polaris tables, which depend on date and LHA Aries.
